What can be modified

The game area by area: what you can change today, an example of each, and the tool to use. The full matrix with every call is on API status.

built works in the port nowpartial player-only, or only through a general routeplanned designed, not built yet

Planets and the planet map

  • Add a planet to the game’s galaxy, with a route from a stock planet. Example: a new world above Goldwood. built Studio’s Planet window.
  • A galaxy of your own: an empty map for your planets, switched with L and R. Example: the Zephyra Expanse. built
  • Hidden planets that appear when another is completed, or once you first find their level. built Tutorial

Levels

  • New levels from your own Blender geometry: floors, walls, water, lava, pits, invisible colliders. built Your first planet
  • Change a stock level: add objects to it, change its fog, sky or music, without replacing it. Example: a portal in Goldwood to your planet. built Tutorial
  • Level look: sky, clear colour, fog, field of view, weather, light slots, ambient loops. built Studio’s Level window.
  • Exits and start points between your levels and the game’s. built
  • Moving platforms, jetpack pads, Galaxian flight paths planned

Enemies, friends and objects

  • Place any object the game has: ant squads, Cyborgs, doors, keys, chests, crates, health, ammo, lights, glows, sounds, fog and camera zones, switches. built Studio’s Prefabs.
  • Squads that lock doors until they’re dead, with navigation regions and patrol networks. built
  • New enemy looks: a stock enemy with your textures and size, as its own type. Example: the Fire Ant. built Tutorial
  • Spawning objects from a trigger or script. built
  • New meshes for enemies partial (the data route works; there’s no importer yet); enemies with their own behaviour planned

Weapons

  • Bolt size, charge speed, mine limit: player-only for now partial
  • New weapons with their own gun models and HUD icons planned

Story, triggers and scripts

  • Triggers without code: when the level starts, an area is entered, a door opens, a flag is set, or the hero talks to someone, then show messages, play music, fade fog, set flags, unlock doors, warp, spawn, or open and complete planets. built
  • Talkers and notes: lines that advance each time you talk. built
  • Lua scripts for anything the triggers can’t say. built Tutorial

Music and sound

  • Your own music per level, as OGG with loop points. built Tutorial
  • Any stock tune and ambient loop in your levels. built
  • Replace or mute sound effects (C) built; new sound effects planned

Look and feel

  • HD texture packs. built Tutorial
  • Blood, gore and the hit flash (C events). built
  • Hide objects as they draw (C). built
  • Translations of menus, subtitles and hints. built

Anything else

A C code mod can hook or replace any game function. That’s the route for changes nothing above covers, and for library mods that other mods build on.
